I am a freelance illustrator and artist. My work is inspired by the natural world and local Cornish landscape, which both feature heavily in my book covers and print designs.
I start my illustrations by sketching outdoors on location, before creating the finished piece back at home using paint, collage and digitally with Adobe Illustrator. There’s lots of videos of my process here >
My style was strongly associated with the fashion brand Seasalt, where I was Senior Creative Designer for over 18 years, making hundreds of prints and illustrations for bags, scarves, tea towels, clothing, stationery and packaging.
My illustrated book Red Sails & Pilchards, about Cornwall’s fishing heritage, was published in 2022 by Design For Today.
I was born in London, studied illustration at the University of Portsmouth and have lived in Cornwall since 2004. I’m currently based in Falmouth, where I live with my wife Kathryn and our black cat, Pooky.
